Australian animals
As you are probably are aware, Australia has tons of animals that are only found in Oz. Seeing them up close is quite an interesting experience. When we were staying with Karen's godmother in Sydney, we paid a visit to Featherdale Wildlife Park, where they have quite a good selection of all that Australia has to offer. So here's a selection of our favorites.
Here's a wallaby with a little joey peeping out from her pouch.
A nice big crocodile. Fortunately this one was behind a barrier.
A colorful stork.
The famous Tasmanian devil.
Doesn't quite look like this guy, does it?
A clever little cockatoo trying to pick the lock to his cage (he was very persistent in this futile task).
A cassowary, which is this huge bird with a hard growth on its head and waddles like a turkey. In Queensland we came across all of these signs warning us to slow down so we wouldn't collide with these huge birds, which are also quite rare in the wild.
An emu, which is another large flightless bird.
And an upside down wombat, playing in a log.

Nice pics. Have you heard about the contagious facial cancer that is decimating the Tazmanian devil population? We had a seminar about it.
