A few more Australian pics
We finally have our camera wires with us at an internet cafe, so hopefully the internet will cooperate with us and let us post a few of our pics.
As I mentioned earlier, Sydney is home to thousands of flying fox bats. One of the best places to see them is in the Sydney Botanic Gardens, right on the waterfront.
And here's a nice view of two Sydney icons from the Gardens.
In Sydney we paid a visit to the Australian Museum, which is a great natural history museum. I felt right at home in the children's play area.
We also paid a visit to famous Bondi Beach, where they had some interesting mosaics.
We also paid a visit to the Blue Mountains, two hours west of Sydney. We descended down into the valley via the world's steepest incline train, with the steepest angle of 52 degrees. Considering a lot of public highways warn you when the grade goes to 7 or 10 degrees, 52 degrees is pretty darn steep.
And finally in New South Wales, we paid a visit to the wine region of Hunter Valley. Unfortunately, Karen participated a bit too liberally in the wine tastings at the cellars and had to undergo a bit of testing.
Just kidding. Karen registered a very disappointing reading of 0.000.
One of the last places we visited in Australia was beautiful Byron Bay, which is a few hours south of Brisbane on the east coast. This picture is from Cape Byron, the easternmost point on the Australian mainland.
