"Cult" restaurants

First there was the Taiwanese restaurant in Shanghai, then the chocolate place in Manila where we saw it. What is happening here?

What is "it"? Team haircuts for wait staff at restaurants. At Bellagio in Shanghai (and apparently at another Taiwanese restaurant called Charmant), all of the waitresses (for there were only waitresses, no waiters) had short, bobbed haircuts. I thought that was a bit strange that you needed to get your hair cut a certain way to be a waitress.

Then we went to Max Brenner (The Bald Man) chocolate restaurant in Manila and there all the waiters (only waiters, no waitresses) had completely shaved heads. Our waiter told us they all got shaved every Friday.

This all still seems a bit strange to me. I know all the waiters and waitresses at TGI Fridays all kind of look the same, with their peppy attitudes and all their "flair" (see Office Space), but can you imagine if they all were forced to have mohawk (mohican) haircuts? How strange would that be?

Hmmm, maybe these restaurants are just trying to replicate George Steinbrenner's success with the Yankees with his anti-facial hair and long hair policies?
