Melbourne and Sydney
So what have we been up to the last few weeks? Well, our time in Australia has been a mixture of chilling out and catching up with people we know as well as getting to know the area we're in. While it's been busy, we've definitely not kept up the fast pace of life we had in India where it was go, go, go all the time. This has given us a chance to relax and take it easy so it's a nice contrast to what we've experienced before.
Melbourne was such a nice surprise. A laid-back city which reminded us of a cross between San Francisco and Vancouver, it's no surprise that Melbourne won "Best Place to Live" in various guides we've seen. We watched England lose terribly to Australia in the cricket and we had some of the amazing food it has to offer in St Kilda.
Here is a photo of the famous St Kilda with the very attractive Luna Park in the background. The shopping was sooooo good in Melbourne...so those who know me well will be amazed to see that I held myself back and didn't buy a thing while we were there. That said, we'll definitely be back!!!
We then headed to Sydney and spent time with my godmother and her sisters. We also got to see a fair bit of Sydney and really recommend the Sydney Opera House tour as a must. It really is an architectural and engineering wonder and we have loads of photos of it up close but since posting pictures is quite difficult this one will have to suffice.
Froom the Opera House, you get a great view of the Harbour Bridge which is also another wonder in engineering. As you can see from Kevin's post, we also climbed the bridge which was such a fantastic experience (really not scary despite the height--just awesome views of Sydney all around).
One cannot go to Australia without sampling some of its fine wines! So off we went to Hunter Valley, about 2 hrs from Sydney, to go wine tasting! Luckily, my auntie drove so we could drink as much as we wanted. But it was soooo hot we couldn't drink much at all. And even at the best of times I can't drink much!

Karen, I'm very impressed with your shopping restraint! I love your pix. The bridge walk must have been great. And you two DO look very relaxed and chilled out!
