Connections

Continuing our "it's a small world" theme:

On our tour of India there was a girl who lived about a mile away from where we used to live in Cambridge, England.

There was also a guy who was originally from Framingham, MA and is now a career coach for Kellogg - which is the alma mater of my brother Brian and soon to be also for Karen's brother Brian.

Our hotel in Chiang Mai was owned by a former barrister from Singapore who also attended Cambridge and lived 2 doors down from Karen's old office in London.

Also staying at our hotel in Chiang Mai and joining us on our jungle trek was none other than Sean Irwin - not my brother Shaun, though. This Sean was from Toronto.

While we were in one of the palaces in India, there was a room with pictures of many former British viceroys of India. Who do I see on the wall there? The Viceroy of India from 1926-1931, none other than Lord Irwin.

After reading about him, though, I'm not really sure if this Lord Irwin guy is all that great. Still, "Lord Irwin" has a nice ring to it.

And to do a mini-segue from connections to full-circle, we also want to send along congratulations to my brother Brian who announced on Thanksgiving that he is now engaged to Shannon. Very good news indeed. So, we essentially began this adventure by attending Brian Go's wedding in Shanghai in October and it looks like we'll be ending it with Brian Irwin's wedding in Chicago in July. Looks like our trip is going to have to be extended a bit ... (boo hoo).
